Actually the three creatures (roll a know(Nature) check to figure out what you know about them, since despite the name of the picture they look quite different from the usual spriggans) are inside the wall of thorns with you.  They are about 10ft from you, and I'll be rolling initiative in a little while.  When I do, I will let you know who is close to who.

Yes, it's a magical wall of thorns, it still impedes you.

All of us are stuck inside?? lovely
nature check
Rolled 1d20+6 : 11 + 6, total 17

TheTick

Nice roll for Felicity...she is convinced that they are some form of Spriggan, with additional plant-like traits.  They have used their size-altering ability to become large (note for all, 10ft reach) and that the thorn-covered vines winding around them could be used as weapons, and that grappling one would really hurt.  Their plant-like bodies would make them weak to fire.

Even so, Felicity (nor Big Al for that matter) have ever heard of such a creature before.

going to assume that forest friend would be useless here considering the nature of the creatures. Al should still have her spear at the ready, considering her size and the range of the spear i should be able to counter the range advantage of the spriggans right?

TheTick

Well, a spear is not a reach weapon, so you'd still have to step in the 5ft as Bashir did.

I don't see much benefit to Forest Friend in this case either.

Give me a few minutes and I will roll things for the bad guys.

#171
any minus on attack rolls?
so what should i roll for damage with the spear since its a large beast?
normal is 1d8 +4 + 1d6 Cold

No adjustments to your rolls, for the damage roll the 1d8+4, then the 1d6.

For Felix, it's 1d20+6 for the attack and 1d6+1 for damage.  Also, unless you step up I have you just behind the others and not threatened, so casting is still an option.

As an archer, I'm feeling a little helpless without a map of what "squares" are threatened.  Is there sufficient room for Felicity be able to take a 5ft step out of their range and shoot some arrows?

TheTick

For this round, yes, you have enough space to back up and shoot as I didn't have the enemies close on you two.  With the reach and move they have, subsequent rounds will be more...interesting.

Alas, you could only prep one of those. :D  You may want to take some time with the list of Cleric spells and sort out what you'd have prepped on a typical day.  The table on the Cleric page tells you how many per day you get at your level (the +1 at each spell level is the domain spell - you used the 3rd level one, Fireball), then go to this dizzying list and pick what you think Felix would prep.  That may be tough if you are still just on your phone, if so, I can give you my thoughts (or perhaps Lotofsnow can as well) and you can adjust from there.  Especially as you gather more info on the campaign and the enemies you are facing.

Yeah, I've been asking a load of questions almost entirely because I am playing exclusively from my phone.  I appreciate everyone's patience.  I hate to burden everyone with my lack of experience and a technological disadvantage.

Edit:

The prepped spells potentially change each in-game day, correct?
