S'Vith, hoping to avoid conflict, begins to sing a drinking song loudly.

Faraway steps up just behind Owen, eyeing the creatures. Neith remains behind the wall, waiting for the druid's signal.

Horcrust begins to summon the eagle.

OOC: Sorry, didn't realize it was a surprise round (I was practically last)

Owen steps to the fore, as the team shifts position behind him.  He hears Horcrust casting a spell, which is quickly drowned out by S'Vith's bawdy tune.  The corbies leap at the Paladin as one, and he shoulders them off, a deep gash on the face the result. (-5hp)  Owen tries to retaliate against the creatures, but his target manages to dodge.

You guys are all up again.  Horcrust's eagle is there.  I tried to position everyone based on their stated actions, let me know if anything needs to be shifted.

Not enjoying being surrounded, Jeddy casts "Cause Fear" on one of the two creatures.

Seeing that violence is the only option, Owen strikes again at the unusual creatures.  The avian that struck Owen has left himself open to counter attack, and the paladin presses the advantage.

Jeddy's mental assault on the lefthand creature causes it to shake it's head and ruffle it's feathers, but it does not run. (Shaken for one round)

S'Vith, seeking to change the dynamic of combat and position himself for a later attack, squats and then leaps with his full force, aiming to land behind the two creatures and open up the immediate area.

Owen manages to duck just in time as the dwarf sails over his head, and skids to a halt behind the two corbies.  They swipe at him, but both catch only air.  Faraway steps into a swing and does serious damage to the corby in front of him, causing a surprised squawk.

The creature nearest Owen does not fare so well.  He smashes the man-bird into the hard packed ground, and the broken body moves no more. (DEAD)  Horcrust attempts to re-target his flames at the remaining Corby, but misses.

The corby that felt Faraway's sting tries to return the favor, and the druid finds himself just dodging the first set of razor-sharp claws, and blocking the second set with his shield.  The creature repeats it's CAW-CAW call, and this time it's answered from somewhere beyond the closed inner gate.

The summoned eagle flaps over to the remaining corby and attempts to chomp down with it's beak, but it snaps closed only on air.

Horcrust fires a blast of flame at the creature, only for it to strike Faraway in the back.

"Ops!"

OOC: I assume this is correct?.

Lotofsnow

After deflecting the corby's counterattack, Faraway ripostes with a slash of his own.
