Owen steps forward as calmly as he can manage, and attempts to strike at the spider in the center of its mass with all his strength.

Seeing the paladin jump early, Faraway lets out a soft curse before moving beside his friend and following with an attack of his own.

The corby at the door seems content to block the way, swiping at Neith when the roc swoops in, but doing no damage.  While Jeddy and Horcrust's attacks falter, Owen and Faraway seem to move as one, and kill the giant spider with two mighty swings.  Across the courtyard, you hear a howl.  "You killed my Fang!  I kill you back!"  The creature that set loose the spider appears ready to charge.

The corby at the door again rakes at Neith and again misses twice.

Neith's attacks very nearly rip the corby to shreds - it stands, but only just.  Horcrust begins the now-familiar motions and incantations of a summoning spell.

S'Vith grunts in pain and quickly retreats to his companions, returning the way he came.  Praying to any god who might listen the foul birds not follow him.

Owen loses himself in battle, and runs headlong at the creature who had set loose the spider.
