As the creature ducks, Faraway manages a shout to Neith who takes to the sky. She circles swiftly several meters above the courtyard, out of reach of the remaining corby, waiting for an opportunity to attack.

With a roar, S'Vith attacks the nearest creature.

Jeddy fires at one of the creatures and misses.

S'Vith lands two solid strikes, and the remaining corby falls into the dirt, twitching for a bit, then going still. (DEAD)  However, any thought of celebration is short-lived as you hear scraping of metal against wood, and a voice in the common tongue calls out, "Fang!  Go check gate!  See what stupid bird-people doing!"

Reminder - the gate into the castle is closed, but there is a lever to open it on this side.  There are handholds that form a ladder up the back wall, with openings (one on each side of the rear gate) that can get you on top of the wall, and of course, out is always an option.

Without a moment for pause, S'Vith rushes to the ladder and begins to climb, seeking a vantage point at the top of the wall.

OOC:  Not sure if I can make more than once skill check at a time or not, or I would have also rolled a Perception Check

Faraway stands just to the side of the door, ready to strike whatever emerges.

Owen takes position at the other side of the door as Faraway and likewise prepares to strike at whatever exits the door.

TheTick

Owen and Faraway, peering between the iron bars of the inner gate, see what is making the noise - near the western wall of the castle are the stables, and a vaguely humanoid creature has unbarred one of the stalls and has set loose 'Fang', which turns out to be a large spider.  The humanoid turns towards the castle gate, and instead of a human face, you see an ugly multi-eyed spider's face, and arms that end in rending claws.

S'Vith lifts the trapdoor at the top of the ladder, and sees that it leads to a small tower on the top of the gatehouse.  There is a door, hanging open, through which the dwarf can see a bit of the gatehouse roof.  There are two more corbies perched, as if to climb down the outer wall.

(S'Vith can see no more without moving to the door of the tower where the ladder led, and please make a Stealth check)

Curious, S'Vith glides towards the door, putting his back against the wall and sneaking a peak within.

Now seeing the rest of the roof, S'Vith notes an identical tower on the other side (presumably where the other ladder leads), and another corby, looking across the courtyard.  It's frantically waving it's arms at something at the northern end of the castle.

Pausing here to give S'Vith a chance to do something.  The folks downstairs can do something too (they would judge the spider to be about 2 rounds away and know nothing of what S'Vith has seen yet).  And remember the gate to go IN to the courtyard from the gatehouse is still closed.

Faraway whispers over to Owen:

Should we open the gate? Maybe it will come through and we can flank it. Could use some bait though.

Faraway subtly flicks his eyes in Horcrust's and Jeddy's direction so Owen can catch his meaning.

SteveRogers

S'Vith glances about the ground for something substantial which could be covertly thrown at one of the birds.
