It's dead, in case you couldn't tell.  The door is closed, but it appears to be more swelled shut than locked.

It's a masterwork studded leather, quite finely made.  Comes with a few bloodstains, but I imagine that doesn't bother Yiki too much.

What size is the shortsword?  If it's small and better than a rapier, then Bigsby will probably take it.

I think a regular size short sword would be a little cumbersome for a gnome unforunately.   ;)
