Jeddy says nothing but joins the group in heading toward the crystal.

Owen and Faraway creep into the small chamber, scanning for danger.  Faraway sees something in the water move, and grabs Owen's arms, saying "Watch out!" but the Giant Amoeba has already struck at the Paladin, the wound sizzling. (-2hp plus -1hp from acid)  It does not, however, succeed at grabbing Owen.

Roll initiative.  Map available later.

Giant Amoeba - 14
Owen - 5
S'Vith - 4

Faraway does his best to help Owen with his attack (aid another as stated).  The rest of the team, with little to no visibility on the amoeba, are left waiting.

The amoeba is A.  One person could attempt a jump (Acrobatics check, DC 12) to make it to the northern sliver of the island that is near to the amoeba, but a failure has you falling prone there.  Horcrust and Jeddy are up, but if you don't have anything useful at the moment we can delay so Owen can go.

Horcrust begins to summon a flank for Owen (entropic eagle).

Jeddy and Horcrust begin a flurry of spell-casting, with Jeddy granting a boon to S'Vith (check the link from Porter if you need to know what Guidance gives you).  The amoeba attempts to hit Owen again, but the Paladin manages to dodge it.

My goddess, that stings.  Owen thinks, as the acid eats away at his skin.  He manages to avoid being consumed by the ooze, of which he is eternally greatful.

He makes a furious strike with his greatsword, desperate not to be dissolved into so much goo.

Let me know if I need to make a crit roll!

TheTick

(no need for a critical roll, the amoeba's immune.  also, it's dead)

Owen's sword makes quick work of the amoeba, cutting it neatly in two.  The interior goo pours out and flows into the muddy water, leaving behind a gross-looking sack.

S'Vith nimbly jumps over the water and examines the crystal...and is dismayed to find it's only a standard rock crystal (worth about 20gp or so at it's size).  The glow wipes off - probably just some phosphorescent deposits from cavern-dwelling creatures.

Phil

"So, that is an 'ooze'.  Cannot say I care for them much."  Owen takes out a cloth and cleans his blade, careful not to let the acid ruin such a well-crafted weapon.

May as well see if there's anything we don't immediately notice.

TheTick

You see some assorted flotsam and jetsam - coins corroded beyond recognition, rat bones, belt buckles, things the amoeba probably couldn't digest easily - but nothing of any value.
