Chapter One, Part One: Fires over Brinestump

Lotofsnow

Faraway hefts his spear and throws it at the strange creature. Neith wheels around above, waiting for an opportunity to attack.

TheTick

Faraway's spear and Horcrust's elemental blast both miss the monster.  It leans in and snaps it's hideous jaw at Owen, but the grasping claws just miss grabbing him.

Jeddy, Faraway, Horcrust, go for it.

Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception!

Porteiro

Jeddy shoots his crossbow at it, but the show goes wide.  (I assume.)

Faraway pulls out one of his daggers and whips at the creature.

Attack takes melee into account

TheTick

A flurry of fire, metal and wood flies towards the monster, but none of it impacts.  It rears back and attacks Owen again, and the Paladin dodges the bite and first claw, but the creature's other claw rakes his arm painfully. (-3hp)

S'Vith, Owen, the the first three again.

S'Vith jumps at the creature.  "Fierce beast!"

Owen is taken by surprise by the hideous creature.  This must be the monster that Walthus spoke of.  Uglier than I was expecting.

The pain of the laceration by its claws spurs Owen to action.  He draws his new greatsword back and puts all of his strength into a downward thrust.

"You leave me no choice, creature of the swamp."

mechanics: ShowHide

7(1d20) +7 = 14; 8(2d6) +9 = 17
Includes the -1 from PA and the +2 from flanking.  Hopefully this is a standard wrathspawn and it connects despite the poor roll...   :-\

Owen is still adjusting to the weight of his shiny new sword, but the blow lands at the creature's shoulder and sinks in deeply.

The creature roars in pain as the massive blade slams into it, nearly splitting it in two.  Somehow it keeps it's feet, but only just.

(great shot, kid, now don't get cocky) Jeddy, Faraway Horcrust are up.

Jeddy reloads, fires, and misses yet again.

This dice roll has been tampered with!

[1d20]4 + 4 = 8

TheTick

The fell creature flinches as Jeddy's shot zips past.

Lotofsnow

Faraway grumbles over his lost dagger. However, he sees the awesome blow struck by Owen and refrains from tossing another dagger to be lost to the swamp. Instead, he pulls his scimitar and begins scanning the swamp, ready to strike down any opportunistic creature that might take advantage of the engaged party.

SpamHead

"Hideous. I hope there aren't any others."

OOC: I assume it wouldn't be that hard because how accurate Owen would be if he actually rolled good for once

TheTick

(are you going to try an attack this turn?  the creature is still alive, just barely so)
