Hm, I would think the magic of Brinewall would be more powerful than that.

TheTick

*one raised eyebrow*  Mwahaha!
Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception!

I'm not sure she needs to be fully conscious for it, but here's my campaign trait roll:

Rolled 1d20+4 : 11 + 4, total 15

Phil

Also I kind of like the idea of Shalelu coming with us.  We'll want to use the NPCs as best as we can.  Unless that'd be a problem with Porter/Jeddy.

SpamHead

Meh. More characters means less  XP, but my character does not know that.

(unless we want to tear down the forth wall, and methinks this is not that sort of campaign)

Phil

Meh, if I was the DM I'd just add a mob or two each encounter to make it come out even.  It was my impression that fighting along side the NPC's was kind of part of this campaign.  Having to tell all four of them to twiddle their thumbs each time an adventure hook jumps off is going to be a bit awkward.

But its not a big deal to me.

TheTick

Not to spoil anything, but Brinewall isn't a cakewalk, and it fit for Shalelu to want to come (Sandru would want to stay with Ameiko and the caravan, Koya is the healer, Ameiko herself is out of action).

Maxim 18: If the officers are leading from in front, watch out for an attack from the rear.  ;D

Only a "yay!" if there is something there to find, heh.

SpamHead

Well, now you know there was nothing to find (if you don't find anything, that is).

Sometimes things are really hard to find.  :P  :D

On a natural 20 + 11?

(but yeah, I get the point that we can never be really really really truly sure.)

TheTick

Unlike attack rolls, natural 1/20 results on skill checks are not auto successes/failures, because they are either opposed checks or there is a DC to beat.

Yeah, I have 3.5 rulebooks that I know inside and out. I know the 95% or so of the rules that stayed the same.

But if something wasn't found by his roll, we were not meant to find it.
