I'll have to look at the relevant skills for the NPCs when I get home.  Sandru is a driver, of course.

As for using the Mount spell, well, I don't know how many Sorcs that would want to use that many spell slots each day before they even fight. :D  There would still be a lot of gear you'd have to buy, and if Horcrust were ever capture/incapacitated/killed, the caravan as a whole would suffer.  I don't see Sandru going for that.

Lotofsnow:  there are fouler things than wolves on this caravan route. :D

Yeah, but is there cholera? No? Didn't think so.

Also, I was thinking of buying a horse etc. with my cash, though Faraway isn't aware that he's going anywhere yet, that's why I didn't do it.

Lotofsnow

I'd like to be the Scout if that's ok. I meet the requirements in spades. Also another good reason to buy a light horse.

Here's what I want to buy once we know we're going to go on a road trip:

Horse, light (combat trained) 110gp
military saddle 20gp
saddlebags x 2 8gp
bit and bridle 2gp

TheTick

I figured that's a good role for you.  No issues with those purchases.

Lotofsnow

I would, but there isn't a military saddle kid.

Phil

Yeah, makes sense.

Unless someone finds one online, I think I'll make a google docs version of the caravan sheet and start filling it out.  Will make it public so anyone in the party can see/edit.

Morning, evening. It's all relative. As my good friend, Chu, would say, "It's happy hour somewhere."

Rest easy, guys. In fifth grade, my class did a pen and paper Oregon trail rpg over the course of a few weeks, with us breaking into groups and forming wagon trains. Not only was I elected leader of my wagon train, I was the only leader to bring his train all the way to Oregon successfully (with only a limited amount of cannibalism).

Granted, this was 21 years ago or so, but it's like riding a bike.

;D

I'm not sure what caravan role would be a good fit for S'Vith.

I swapped out a skill point and put it into Knowledge (geography) in case I need to fill the Guide role for a day. I also have the Handle Animal skill, so I can drive, too, in a pinch.

TheTick

Pretty much any PC can be a guard.

Ha!  Touche.  Well then, show up early and Ameiko will probably put you to work peeling potatoes.  :P

That works - Shalelu will be around as well, so between you and she, I'm sure guide and scout can be handled.

So, on my statblock, I have removed the shield armor check penalty from various skills. This is because, if I'm performing those skills, I'll generally have my shield slung around on my back. Example, I'm not going to be swimming with my shield out. Nor will I be riding with a heavy shield equipped for the most part. I marked them with asterisks though, in case it comes up and I need to calculate the -2.
