I wouldn't think Faraway would need a seat because he's riding his horse, right?

We could buy Shalelu a horse, or switch from supply wagon to covered wagon as our additional one.

Yeah, I think you're right.

Might as well get her a horse. Adds a mouth, but it would also give us an extra riding horse for the journey, which could come in handy.

I actually thought that's one place where Horcrust's Mount spell might come in handy - summoning a horse or two for scouting missions.  It lasts 4 hours now that he's level 2, could cast one when Shalelu needs to range ahead.

I think the main crux is that if we don't buy Shalelu her own horse, we'd need to either buy a second new wagon or ditch one of the hired NPCs.  I don't think the cost of a horse is prohibitive, so that's what I'd go with.  The Mount spell could come in handy for when Horcrust wants to go scouting with them I'd think.  (Say if Shalelu is occupied elsewhere).

Lotofsnow

Have you been tallying our cost so far so we can divvy up the payment?

Phil

I haven't done any sort of totaling yet.  Just assuming the costs are well under 2000gp.

Though come to think of it, I've been operating under the assumption that Koya's gift was for the caravan, not for the party.  If we didn't use it all I was assuming that we'd save the leftovers in reserve for future improvements to the wagons and such.

If its a fund where we can purchase weapons and armor and such from, then that's a whole 'nother story.

Lotofsnow

I had assumed it was for the caravan as a whole as the gift was "to improve the state of the caravan."

I'm tempted to say we should add a covered wagon, too, if we can afford it. That way we can pick up travelers at our next destination.

Unless I'm missing something, we're currently at 682, not including 50 gold in monthly wages owed.

682 includes:
Supply wagon   300
Shalelu's horse and tackle   132 (war trained light horse, military saddle, bridle)
Food           60   (5g x 12 supply)
Trade   140  (10g x 14 supply)
Repair   50    (25g x 2 supply)

I rolled for the first few days, and no events (good or bad) occurred, so you will make it here without incident.  Barring any further changes to your caravan to increase it's speed, this is day 4.

Ok, we've burned through 4 days worth of supplies (6 supply) and have 4 days left.

Phil

It sounds like we can stock up on grain pretty easily in the town we are now approaching.  I wonder if they'd take on any of our trade goods in exchange?  For a profit, I'd hope, not a 1-1 kind of exchange.

We may as well go ahead and get the covered wagon and driver, and fill the 4 cargo spaces with more food.

Lotofsnow

With the Academy, perhaps there are people coming and going. A covered wagon would also allow us to take on travelers.

Wonder if Jeddy wants to move around and fill what needs filling?

For instance, he could Guard at first, but he can also Heal if necessary.
Yes.  It just makes sense to me to do it that way.

TheTick

Any changes you guys make will be in existence from the beginning - I just rolled the encounter chance ahead of time, saw nothing was going to happen, and figured I'd move things along.

You may find some folks looking for passage to the next two towns, but after that, well, nobody goes to Brinewall.  Except you.

Also, much of the feedback I see about the traders and getting value for the trade goods points to it not giving enough in return, so I'll be tweaking that in your favor.  Stay tuned.
