Ah, I believe I've picked one of those already then.   8)

So just for my own clarification, I think I have everything from Phil, Lotofsnow, and SteveRogers.  SpamHead needs to pick traits (2, with one of them being the NPC related one from the player's guide), and Porter is still outstanding.  SpamHead may need to rejigger spells, and also spend some of the money (I think you just had a dagger on your sheet, yes?).  It's okay if you want to buy things later, but adventure comes to you after a fashion in this story so you may want to have some gear.  I'm sure we can suggest some basics if you need it.
Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception!

SteveRogers

Do I need to add a backpack and waterskin to my inventory?  I'm assuming yes.

TheTick

That's pretty typical gear, yep.  Lotofsnow's sheet has a lot of the standard stuff (bedroll, rations, etc.) though I wouldn't figure everyone needs (or has the strength) to carry everything.

I thought I'd already added it to my sheet, but it looks like it got cleared out at some point for some reason.

Phil

Note:  Just buy the Pathfinder's Kit.

Saves a lot of trouble in individually pricing items.  I'll add one to my own sheet.  That sort of stuff is typically the last thing I do to my sheet before the game starts :).

My burly druid can carry a bit more gear if it comes down to it, too, so don't worry too much if you can't maintain a light load to start. I'll be able to shoulder a few more pounds or so.

edit: actually everyone seems to have pretty ok strength so far, so that probably won't be a problem

TheTick

Yeah, no 6 str wusses around yet.

SpamHead

I think I took care of the trait and equipment problems and now we are that much closer to getting this thing rolling!

Phil

Tomorrow will mark one month since the recruiting for this game started.

I don't mean to be a pest, but a month is plenty of time to get a character together, especially a level 1 character and only a couple of paragraphs of back-story required for submission.

The DM, campaign setting, other players, and my character I'm all excited about.  But we need to start soon or else this thing won't ever have enough momentum to take off.

(IMHO, of course)

Edit:  I guess technically we hadn't picked the campaign for about a week after the recruitment was started, but the larger point hopefully still stands.

SteveRogers

In my defense, I'm a full time student with a full time job.  I can drop out of if it's really that big of a deal.  This just coincided rather inconveniently with the end of the semester when my cup runneth over with tests, papers, and presentations.

Phil

Eh, its probably just me being impatient.  It doesn't help that one of my active PBP games seems more and more likely to have been abandoned by the DM   :(.

SteveRogers

If it's any consolation, I feel worse and worse as each day goes by in which I'm unable to find a big enough chunk of time to flesh out my backstory a little.  I'm actually pretty much finished with my stuff as I recall aside from that.

Phil

I think a lot of that can be done on the fly, so long as the basics are there.  For instance, your character is a Dwarf bare-knuckles boxer, hired by Sandru to guard his caravan (IIRC).  That could easily be expanded into a couple of paragraphs, perhaps describing how they met or a particular stop on one of their travels.  Maybe a couple personality details.

Then during the game the other details (where he's from, why did he start boxing, how did he join up with Sandru, etc) can be fleshed out during in-character posts.

At least that's my perspective, but my character creation strategy differs a great deal from some others (like Porter).
