Zedric can let anyone look at the ring who wants, though he's really the only one likely to figure out what it's for. ;)

Oh, I already know. :D  But your characters don't, not yet.  Z can (most likely) figure it out, having ranks in things like Spellcraft and various Knowledge skills, just waiting for him to try it out.

No, only that one door.  There is a similar chamber to the right/east of the entry room, and a long hallway that leads 'up'/north.

And, of course, since I chose transmutation as a prohibited school I don't have Mage Hand. :P
