Could I move and roll for move silently in one turn?  And then try to cast the spell closer in the next turn?

TheTick

Yeah, do a Move Silently roll, and tell me where you want to move to (just tell me how many squares over/up/down you want to go).  Remember Gnomes move 20ft in a turn (to still have a Standard action left) or 40ft (to cast on your next turn).  In practice, though, since you have some cover and they are fairly far away, the odds of them hearing you are pretty small.

Anybody else have something different to do?

Yiki is going to remain where he is, but he's ready to rush forward at the first sign of trouble.

TheTick

Excellent.  I think I just need to know if Bigsby moves and casts, and if anybody else wants to reposition.  Otherwise, where you are is probably a good place to move up/scout from, if that's your plan.  Or to get the jump on the visible bad guys. :D

I was going to go ahead and move closer and cast the spell.  Did you want to write it up, or shall I?

Here's my Move Silently roll anyway:

Rolled 1d20+2 : 19 + 2, total 21

TheTick

I'll let you write it, as I'm interested to see what sounds you want to project at them.  That'll help me create their reaction.   ;D

How much do I need to move to be in range?

TheTick

With a 25ft range, you could maybe move about 30-35ft to the right (each square is 5ft), still be in the same level of cover, and cast the spell behind the storage structure there.  But you are not under initiative order yet, so you can move where you like.  But if you venture TOO far, I reserve the right to call for another Move Silently check.

I'll write this up (assuming no interjections) soon.

Just to make sure I have your plan right - how far over and up is Bigsby moving?

Just up behind the storage structure like you suggested.  I'm not sure on the distance thing, but close enough to be in range but still be able to cast the spell too.

TheTick

OH, I was unclear - I figured you'd go straight east, still in the trees, and cast the spell so the folks hear stuff to draw them away (east or southeast).  Going out of the trees would probably need another Move Silently check.  You can do that, though - may be able to draw them further away...or they might see you or hear you.

I actually like the idea of staying in the trees better.  Seems safer.  Let's go with that.

So I want to sense evil if we can get the apparent leader in range.
