Essentially, Yiki is asking Bigsby if he knows Cure Light Wounds. Glancing at his sheet and the bard spell progression, it appears he does not since he cannot yet cast 1st level spells. Too bad. Maybe next level.

SteveRogers

Yeah, I don't think I can.  I see I have a Heal skill, but I'm not sure if that would be any help.

Lotofsnow

It wouldn't hurt. Maybe thetick will grant me bonus hit points after a rest with a successful heal check.

TheTick

I'll give you half of them back, and I'll assume a successful heal check so it works.  Since my buddy went and got married and couldn't join up (he would've been a cleric most likely) I'm going easy on healing just a bit, until Bigsby gets to the point of being able to cast CLW (and Imfei gets Lay on Hands soon as well).

Since Bigsby technically needs to tend Yiki's wounds to a certain extent for the heal to work, I'd suggest he take the second watch.

SteveRogers

Does this mean Bigsby stays up during the first watch to tend to the wounds and then takes the second watch to allow Yiki to rest?

TheTick

I'll consider you resting, just Yiki maybe nudges halfway through to check things out.  Like I said, I'm easy.  Until the man-eating sharks start jumping out of the water at ya.

Shouldn't've said that.

Would it be possible for me to just stay up and play music once Yiki wakes me?  Or would that use up a skill or something?

TheTick

Well, you don't yet have a bard song that would help in this case (you can Inspire Courage or attempt to fascinate a creature).  At level 3 you get Inspire Competence, which helps with skill checks.  Would've been useful if I made you roll the Heal check.  But that's in the future, yet.

Of course, if you just wanted to annoy your allies by playing music in the middle of the night, go for it.  :D  I'm thinking Yiki could punt you at least 30 yards.

I was thinking quietly playing the lute might be relaxing.   :)

TheTick

A gnomish bard, playing a lullabye for a couple of half-orcs and an elf.  Fascinating. :D

It could happen.  Probably.   :P

Question:  Should I do a skill check roll every time I desire to say something in another language?  I think I assumed knowing the language would automatically mean Bigsby could speak it, but I seem to recall seeing a Language Skill Modifier.

Not usually.

SteveRogers

That's what I had assumed, but I was suddenly worried I'd been doing it wrong.

Lotofsnow

One thing I like doing as DM is, if you know a language related to another language, you can make Linguistics or Intelligence checks to make sense of it. So, just how understanding French fluently can give you some insight into Spanish at times, knowing Hobgoblin might allow you to decipher some Orcish or something.
